Important events of 1990's

1990

  • April 24th: A telescope “Hubble” is put in orbit by the United States Space Shuttle Discovery.
  • August 02nd: Iraq invades Kuwait leading to the Gulf War.
1991
  • January 17th: The operation Desert Storm began with air attacks against Iraq. Iraq answer with eight missiles Scud against Israel.
  • February 27th: The Gulf war had finished (6 months, 3 weeks and 5 days) and Iraqi troops left from Kuwait. 
  • March: The World Wide Web is published and used as internet service.
  • December 25th: Cold War end and the USSR dissolve.
1992
  • August 28th:  Hurricane Andrew, killed 65 people and causes $26 billion in damage to Florida and other areas of the U.S.
  • November 03rd: Bill Clinton defeats George Herbert Walker Bush in a presidential election.
1993
  • February 26th: The World Trade Center is bombed by terrorist. 6 persons died and more of one thousand were injured.
1995
  • January 1st: WTO is established.
  • April 19th: Timothy Mcveigh and Terry Nichols placed a truck-bomb outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. 168 persons died and wounded 800. The bombing was the worst internal terrorism fact in the history of the United States.
1996
  • July 05th: In the institute Roslin, Dolly (the sheep) becomes the first mammalian who was cloned.
  • November 05th: Bob Dole loses against the president William J. Clinton.
1997
  • February 09th: The Simpsons become a TV series with more duration in the history of the United States, beating the Flintstones.
  • March 04th: The cloning is prohibited by Bill Clinton.
1998
  • January 26thPresident Clinton is accused of having a sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky.
  • February 23th: Osama Bin Laden announces a holy war against all Jews and Crusaders.
1999
  • January 1st: The Euro is known as a strong tool to stem the power of the dollar and maximize the economic power of the European Union nations.
  • February 12thdismissal of Clinton later by the House of Representatives.
  • May 03th: Storm shook Oklahoma City, killing 38 persons. This storm had the fastest wind speed ever recorded on earth with 318 mph.
  • November 05th: U.S. versus Microsoft. Preliminary ruling stated that Microsoft had monopoly power.

1990’s decade was an important time for the videogames. Some of the most famous video games consoles were launched in these years. The “SNES, Super Nintendo Entertainment System” was launched in 1990. Thanks to games like Mario Bros, Bomberman, Donkey Kong and too many more SNES became one of the greatest video games consoles of all time.
Another video game console launched in this period
was the PlayStation the first console prototype of Sony; it was the base of thenext projects of this Company. This console was the first which sent 100 millions of units
.Game boy was the most important handheld video game device in the 1990’s powered by Nintendo

  • Finally in the 90's singer Mariah Carey revolutionized music in 1995 when I mix R & B with Rap making it one of the singers over the world and one of the most selling of albums a trend that is used to date

  • Disclosed Canadian singer Celine Dion, who will perform a song from the soundtrack of the movie Titanic (1997), "My heart will go on", considered the most successful song sung by a woman.

  • They arise singers like Robbie Williams, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Alizee and musical groups as Take That, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys and N'Sync which enjoyed worldwide fame.


  • Michael Jackson remains one of the world's most famous men, Ghosts publishes the second most successful film in history after Thriller, Dangerous release, album dedicated to children with successful profits, History: Past, Present and Future, Book I (1995), most successful double album history, tour Dangerous World Tour, and hIStory World Tour, the most successful in history.










SITCOMS


Seinfeld:

was one of the most important sitcoms in the 1990’s. This TV program shows the daily life of a guy and his friends in his apartment in Manhattan, New York. In 2002 this sitcom was named the greatest TV program of all time. This sitcom is also considered the number one reason the 90’s ruled by E! Entertainment.


Friends:
is an American sitcom launched in 1994. The sitcom revolves around a group of friends who live in Manhattan. It has become one of the most important series of twentieth century and of all time. This had a great cultural impact and so many TV shows try to do imitations of this series
CARTOONS 

The simpsons:
is an American comedy series in animation format created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company and aired in several countries. The series is a satire of American society about the life and day to day in a middle class family in that country (which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson) who lives in a fictional town called Springfield

Pinky and the Brain:
Pinky and the Brain are two fictional characters from the animated television series Animaniacs. Later they had their own television series called Pinky and the Brain, which was produced by Steven Spielberg and Warner Bros. Animation. Pinky and the Brain lasted 65 episodes broadcast between 1995 and 1998, then create another series called Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain of 13 episodes.
They are two genetically altered laboratory mice living in the Acme labs. In each episode, Brain devises a plan to conquer the world with Pinky.
The series won an Emmy in 1999. It was issued in Latin America by Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Warner Channel, and Toon Disney in Spain

The 90's in the United States of America



The nineties began in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9 and ending September 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in the United States on September 11. The United States experience a large-scale economic growth thanks to President Bill Clinton


Bill Clinton was the 42nd President of the United States in the periods 1993-1997 and 1997-2001, the third youngest president in the nation.
